Did we beat it? Yes! With only two people!
Clyde Hamilton was bit by the Gold Rush bug. Unfortunately for him, he made one too many bets and has gone missing. Fortunately for you, you've been tipped off to where he's hidden his gold. However, you're not the only one. You've arrived at Clyde's home and have 60 minutes to find the stash and get out before the mob arrives to claim it as their own.
The room was designed and created by The Escape Game's three owners/founders and their in-house game team. One of the owners came up with the idea while wanting to build a room around striking gold with a nod to the western theme. He also had a small inspiration from his love of the game The Oregon Trail. No need to worry about your wagon flipping in this game though.
The first thing you'll notice about this company is they have a team of people with a passion for fun. The customer service in the lobby was impeccable. The team was engaging and personable. We even got some fantastic recommendations for the best burgers in town. We were introduced to Lance who was our game master and he brought us into the room to get us started.
Once in the dark room you're hit with an eerie adrenaline rush. From the dirt on the ground to the sounds of the outdoors playing over the speaker you really feel like you're about to commit a felony. Breaking and entering is not normally on my list of to-dos but this room made it worth it. The technology that was used to guide you through the room and for clues was impressive and stands out among other rooms we have done in the past. It really adds to the element of the room and experience.
The puzzles were unique and clever. While you run into many physical clues the majority will make you thing beyond your normal math equation or riddle. It will force you to access different muscles your brain hasn't flexed in a while. Let me tell you, with only two people this is rough. Of course you will still run into your run of the mill keys and lock boxes but getting to the answers will take putting your brains together.
I would recommend 4 to 6 people. This is a great challenge for novice to mid level escapers. The average success rate for this room is between 30-40%. The best time for this room is 34:55.
Gold Rush is one of seven rooms available at The Escape Game in Nashville. They have two different locations in Nashville with variety between the locations. We also played their Nashville room! The Nashville location is the original for this company. They have expanded to Pigeon Forge, Orlando, Austin, and soon to be in sweet home Chicago! The rooms across the country have similar themes so if you're not in Tennessee you can still play this same game!
Overall we loved Gold Rush and can't wait to return to Nashville to play more!
